1) Scope

This Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use Kalam (mobile apps and websites).

2) Data We Collect

You provide: account/profile (name/username, email, phone), authentication data, preferences, support messages, and (web only) limited billing details from Stripe. We do not store full card numbers.
Automatically: device/OS, app version, IP, time zone, language, crash logs, usage events (e.g., screens viewed, lessons/drills completed), and cookies/identifiers on the web.
Audio/Speech: microphone input for speaking drills; processing of audio/transcripts/scores to deliver feedback, improve quality, and prevent abuse. You may disable mic access in device settings.

3) How We Use Data

  • Operate and improve the Service; personalize content and track progress.

  • Process payments via Apple (IAP) or Stripe (web, on behalf of Kalam App LLC).

  • Communicate transactional updates (receipts, renewals, security alerts) and marketing where permitted/consented.

  • Prevent fraud/abuse; ensure security; debug; comply with legal obligations.

4) Legal Bases (EEA/UK)

Contract (to provide the Service), legitimate interests (security, improvement), consent (marketing/certain cookies), and legal obligation.

5) Sharing

We share with processors necessary to run the Service:

  • Payments: Apple (IAP) and Stripe (web for Kalam App LLC).

  • Hosting/storage: cloud providers.

  • Analytics/product: analytics and crash reporting.

  • Communications: email/SMS/push vendors.

  • Speech/voice: recognition and TTS providers.

  • Advertising/measurement (if used): ad platforms and MMPs.

  • Legal/compliance: where required by law or to protect rights.
    We do not sell personal information.

6) International Transfers

Data may be processed outside your country. Where required, we use lawful transfer mechanisms (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses).

7) Retention

We retain data only as long as necessary for the purposes above, including legal/tax retention. Audio/transcript artifacts are kept only as needed for functionality and quality; you may request deletion subject to verification.

8) Your Rights & Choices

  • Access, correct, delete, or export your data; object/restrict certain processing where applicable.

  • Opt out of marketing.

  • Manage cookies/identifiers via device/browser settings.

  • Control microphone/notifications via device settings.

9) Children

Kalam is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). If we learn a child provided data without appropriate consent, we will delete it.

10) Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards (encryption in transit, access controls, monitoring). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

11) Third‑Party Links & SDKs

Third‑party links/SDKs are governed by their own policies. Review them before use.

12) Changes

We may update this Policy; we will post the new effective date and, where required, notify you.
